2018 Nissan Leaf enters production in Europe

The second-gen Nissan Leaf was first built only at the Oppama plant in Japan. Its U.S. production commenced at the Smyrna Vehicle Assembly Plant in Smyrna, Tennessee on 4 December, 2017.

The 2018 Nissan Leaf is 4,480 mm long, 1,790 mm wide and 1,540 mm tall. It has a 2,700 mm wheelbase and a 150 mm ground clearance. The compact hatchback has a boot space of 435 litres. It is powered by a new version of the EM57 electric motor that generates 150 PS from 3,283-9,795 rpm and 320 Nm of torque from 0-3,283 rpm.

A 40 kWh lithium-ion battery powers the new electric motor. To fully charge, it takes 16 hours using a 3 kW charger and 8 hours using a 6 kW charger. Charging from alert to 80% using a quick charger takes only 40 minutes, though. The second-gen Nissan Leaf's driving range is 400 km (JC08)/378 km (NEDC).

The 2018 Nissan Leaf is already available in Japan, where sales commenced on 2 October 2017. It will reach U.S. dealerships in January 2018 and its deliveries in In Europe will begin in February 2018.
