2019 Skoda Superb (facelift) spied on its home turf
The 2019 Skoda Superb was spied undergoing testing in Czech Republic recently. Both hatchback and estate versions were spotted on the brand’s home turf.

The third generation Skoda Superb, introduced in early 2015, will gain minor cosmetic tweaks with the mid-cycle refresh. At the front, the test mule has revised air intake, repositioned fog lamps and reshaped bumper that gives the lower part more expression. Skoda has cleverly disguised the air intake to hide the new look. Full-LED headlights have replaced bi-xenon headlights. At the rear, expect the tail lamps to have dynamic turn indicators in the new model.

Moving to the interior change, like the Skoda Scala and the recently introduced facelifted VW Passat, the facelifted Skoda Superb may come with new infotainment system options (with a screen size ranging from 6.5 inches up to 9.2 inches) from the third generation of the Modular Infotainment Matrix (MIB3). This would mean that the mid-size sedan would remain always online with a built-in eSIM with LTE connection. It may gain the 11.7-inch virtual instrument cluster also from the new VW Passat. Changes should include new materials, colours and 'Simply Clever' features as well.

With the facelift, the Superb will become the first-ever Skoda available with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. Reports say that the plug-in hybrid powertrain will combine a 154 PS 1.4L TSI turbocharged petrol engine with an 85 kW (115 PS) electric motor for a net output of 215 PS. The electrified variant will have a 13 kWh battery and offer a zero-emission driving range of around 70 km.
