Bentley is calling this "new" powertrain the High Performance Hybrid, which will sit below the Ultra High Performance Hybrid in the lineup. It still pairs the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with a 21.8 kWh battery pack, which enables around 50 miles of electric driving (on the European cycle). With 670 horsepower and 685 lb-ft of torque on tap, these hybrid Bentley models are still quicker than the outgoing Speed models with the W12 engine, but slower than the new Speed models with 771 hp and 738 lb-ft.
Continental GT Coupe And Convertible (And Azure)
The Continental GT Coupe and Convertible see the same styling cues that debuted on the Speed model. These models still get the Bentley Active Chassis, which includes dynamic ride, rear-steering, and an eLSD (limited-slip differential). 0-60 takes just 3.5 seconds in the coupe, while the convertible takes 3.7 seconds. For reference, Bentley quotes a 3.1-second time for the GT Speed Coupe (3.2 for the convertible), and we tested it to 60 mph in 2.91 seconds.
We'll need to wait for official EPA range estimates, but Bentley says the coupe will go 53 miles on the WLTP cycle, while the convertible will go 51 miles. Bentley says the new Continental GT starts at $265,900.
Both body styles will be available with a new Azure specification, which includes a gloss black matrix grille outlined by a bright chrome surround with vertical vanes. Silver and bright machine 22-inch Azure wheels and badging help this version stand out from a standard car. Inside, the Azure specification gets 3D Harmony diamond quilting, Wellness seating, open-pore walnut veneer, special treadplates, and contrast stitching. Coupe models come with a panoramic sunroof, while the convertible includes a neck warmer.
Flying Spur On The Receiving End, Too
The new High Performance Hybrid powertrain helps the Flying Spur sedan hit 60 mph in 3.8 seconds, which is half a second slower than the Speed. You can denote a standard Flying Spur from a Speed via its gloss black matrix grille, matte black lower bumper, and chrome exhaust finish. The interior is fitted with straight-fluted seats, chrome switchgear, or an optional dark chrome interior specification.
Bentley will also offer the Flying Spur with an Azure specification, which includes a gloss black grille with vertical vanes, special badging, and 22-inch wheels. To reduce stress, Bentley Wellness Seating comes standard with heating, ventilation, and a massage function.
