Nissan Serena Minivan Gets A Hot Nismo Sport Package For Tokyo
Finally a minivan with sports car features.

Alongside the handsome new Nissan Leaf Nismo concept, the Japanese automaker will has added another hotted-up Nismo vehicle to its lineup – though, it's probably not the first car you would have expected. The Nissan Serena minivan will be the latest (and arguably greatest) offering in the Nismo lineup, and will get a unique Sport treatment when doors open to the Tokyo Motor Show in just a few weeks.

As part of Nissan's planned Nismo expansion, the Serena minivan will gain new features like new front and rear bumpers, a more sculpted fascia, red trim detailing on the grille and side skirts, new wheels, and a two-tone white and black finish. Nismo badges will also be applied generously throughout the body – but don't worry, these upgrades aren't just skin deep.

The Serena Nismo Sport Package also gains a custom sport-tuned suspension – for when you feel the need to take your minivan to the Nürburgring – a new engine control module, and an upgraded exhaust. Power comes courtesy of the same standard 2.0-liter engine producing 144 horsepower (108 kilowatts) and 154 pound-feet (210 Newton-meters) of torque. Nissan didn't say whether any of these mechanical upgrades will add more power, but we have our fingers crossed.

The new Nissan Serena Nismo Sport model will be available in Japan beginning in November. No word on price, but expect a healthy bump form the Serena's base price of RM132, 978.59 (approximately $31,455). The upgrades, Nissan says, "add extra excitement and flair to the overall driving experience."

Both the Nissan Leaf Nismo concept and the Serena Nismo Sport will be on display at the Tokyo Motor Show beginning on October 25.
