Seller's comments about 2005' BMW 5 Series 523I
Good morning, I am offering for sale a BMW 5 series, model E60 523i with a power of 177 HP from 2005. The car is registered in Poland and has been used for private purposes for the last 3 years. In total, he traveled 40,000 km with me. Why is it worth it? The BMW E60 is a unique premium limousine, known for its spaciousness, comfort, high-quality workmanship and excellent soundproofing. Despite being almost 20 years old, this model still offers luxury at the highest level. Well-invested and well-maintained. After importing from Germany, the car was invested in and the typical faults of this model were removed. Oil changed regularly along with filters every 10,000 km. It was serviced at the renowned BMW Velspec service center, which is valued for its professionalism and passion for this brand. List of repairs and replacements: Replacement of the camshaft sensor + oil cooler gasket + oil filter base gasket + oil service - PLN 1,170 Replacement of flexible and rigid brake lines (front and rear) + replacement of brake fluid, V-ribbed belt and alternator drive belt - PLN 1,375 Replacement of water radiator, temperature sensor, oil service with filters, idler pulley, belt tensioner, water connector, coolant, shaft seal - PLN 2,250 Replacement of crankshaft position sensor + retrofitting the vehicle with an AUX socket + radio coding - PLN 1,106 Replacement of front shock absorbers (Sachs) + replacement of the spark plug and ignition coil, front stabilizer link, stabilizer bar mounting, steering tip, replacement of the Airbag module (common failure in E60) - PLN 2,800 Replacement of the fluid temperature sensor cooling system, rubber hose of the cooling system, lower radiator bracket, rubber bearing, coolant - PLN 700. Replacement of the pneumothorax - PLN 600. Setting alignment and geometry - PLN 350Replacement of the front fog lamp - PLN 520Replacement of the rear bumper at the authorized service center - PLN 7,800Replacement of the starter + oil service with filters + replacement of front + rear emblems + installation of a new airbag module - PLN 2,500Each repair and replacement is documented. HistoryThe car had a minor accident at the end of 2023 - another driver rear-ended me and damaged my bumper. Minimal scratches and a slight crack in the bumper were only visible upon closer inspection. I decided to repair it at an authorized BMW service center (ASO) using original parts. Photos documenting the condition after this incident are included in the ad. Current condition of the mask: has slight paint chips and minimal signs of rust, which is normal for this age. You can repair it yourself at a low cost. Right side: scratched, as can be seen in the photos (fortunately, no bare metal was damaged). DISA valve: replacement is recommended - in our case, the flap showed signs of wear, so it was removed to prevent it from causing a hazard. Without it, the car has slightly less power at the lower rpm limits, which is practically unnoticeable. Replacing it with labor at a good service center costs about PLN 900. And now the saddest thing - unfortunately, after the last service, the car started running erratically. It turned out that it was not firing on 2 cylinders (on the 5th and 6th pot) - misfiring. The spark plugs and coils have been checked and are in working order. Due to the tight period, I was unable to diagnose it further and I bought another car. There can be many reasons for misfiring and I leave that to the buyer. Maybe it's enough to pour kerosene into the cylinders overnight to unblock the rings? Or maybe it burned out the valves ;) There are certainly people here who will be able to repair the fault at a low cost. Alternatively, SWAP is also an option - you can easily replace the engine with a functional one, which costs about 3-5k on the Internet + swap labor about 2-3k. For those who want more power, it's a good opportunity to put in a 3-liter petrol ;) I think that the car deserves repairs and a second life, because it is well-kept and has been invested in. It's really hard to find an E60 that has been restored to order and composition. If it weren't for the unlucky breakdown and the need for the car now, I would still drive it after the repair or swap. The car can be checked at any service center or diagnostic station, but I don't recommend driving it for longer distances now because it currently runs on 4 cylinders. The car is parked at the Velspec service center, so you can go there to check the car on wheels - it's literally a short walk.EquipmentElectric windows and mirrorsDual-zone air conditioningHeated front seatsAUXOn-board computer with screenParking sensors front and rearRain sensorXenon lampsLamp washersRadio, drive CDCupholdersPlease contact me - I will answer all your questions.
