Renault Duster Ambulance with caterpillar tracks
Renault’s low-cost brand Dacia has revealed a one-off Duster Ambulance with caterpillar tracks in Romania.

It seems to be an ideal transport solution in case of emergencies during harsh winter conditions.

Based on the regular Duster, the Ambulance application has caterpillar tracks, giving it a significantly high ground clearance and the ability to traverse through tough snow, as well as mud and ruts. Compared to a regular Duster, top speed will be lower owing to the caterpillar tracks. Its high roof offers paramedics more room extend treatment to the patient.

In Europe, the Dacia Duster is available with a 1.2-litre TCe petrol with 92 kW (123.32 hp), a 1.6-litre GPL petrol-LPG unit that develops 80-84 kW (107.24-112.60 hp) and a 1.5-litre dCi unit that delivers 80 kW (107.24 hp). Transmission options include 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual, and a 6-speed Efficient Dual-Clutch automatic. An AWD system is also available as an option.

Renault and Dacia are currently working on the next generation Renault Duster/Dacia Duster, for its world premiere at the IAA 2017 this September. Although it will ride on the current B0 platform, the 2nd gen Duster will grow to measure around 4.4 metres in length (current model is 4.3 metres long) and continue as a five seater.
