We decided to break up with Subaru because our life plans changed. The car has been in one family since the beginning of its stay in Poland. It was imported by my cousin from Germany in 2022 and he immediately made the glasses himself. The attached photos are of their current condition - they are not a masterpiece, but they will last for a few years. He didn't have time to drive it himself, so I bought it in March 2023. with the intention of making him look like a typical adventurer. It was our additional car and we only covered 7,000 km in a year, but it gave us a lot of pleasure and never let us down.
When I bought it, the check engine light came on from time to time. However, it doesn't affect anything. Supposedly it was something in the throttle, but after replacing it, nothing changed. We have done a lot to adapt it to our trips, including:
In April I did the first service and the following was replaced:
- plugs, ignition cables, throttle
- replaced filters and oil in the engine (Valvolin 10w40), gearbox (Valvolin 80w-90) and in the diff (Valvolin 80w-90)
In the meantime, I decided to increase the comfort of the trip a bit and it was quieted down a bit. First of all, a butyl ABM soundproofing mat and rubber foam were placed on the entire floor. In the meantime, the windshield was re-glued because when disassembling it for soundproofing, it turned out that there was a slight leak and it had to be repaired. The floor was cleaned before the mats were laid and sensitive places were preserved.
Additional seals were also added to the doors. This has made this SG model slightly quieter. However, Maxxis tires are currently fitted, so you can forget about the silence for a while, but they are a lot of fun to drive (maybe not necessarily on asphalt). Of course, I am adding a set of tires for the new buyer (apparently they will last another season, but they are old).
Unfortunately, when disassembling the seat, I cut the cable and the airbag light has been on since then.
For one of my trips, I quickly tinted the rear windows and the results are not satisfactory, but it will be easy to remove it, but I will leave this decision to the new owner.
Before putting it up for sale, I took it to a mechanic to have it repaired so that the new buyer could simply enjoy driving it, because there was a knocking noise in the front suspension. He replaced the rods and swing arm bushings. He also made a convergence.
The engine itself works very well. You don't feel like it's working when you're standing still. The bodywork is also in good shape. The brakes are functional. We took great care of this car ourselves, as it was our typical outing car.
Only our pet, which accompanied us during the trip, scratched the plastics in the back sides a bit.
I am also adding a roof rack to the car, which would be used for a roof tent.
